The new Mornington Kindergarten is a modern early learning facility that reflects a strong commitment to the local community and the future of early childhood education in Dunedin. Delivered by Stewart Construction as the main contractor, the project involved replacing the ageing kindergarten building with a purpose-built space designed to better support teachers, children, and families.
Working alongside architects McCoy & Wixon Architects and project managers Feldspar, Stewart Construction delivered a bright, contemporary learning environment carefully designed for functionality, accessibility, and connection to the outdoor play spaces. The redevelopment reconfigured the site and building placement to create a more user-friendly layout, maximising natural light and providing modern facilities suited to early childhood learning.
The new kindergarten continues a long history on the site, where a kindergarten has served the Mornington community since 1961. By replacing the end-of-life building with a modern, purpose-built facility, Stewart Construction has helped ensure the centre remains a welcoming, safe, and inspiring environment for future generations of children and families.
Combining thoughtful design with high-quality construction, the project highlights Stewart Construction’s expertise in delivering educational facilities that support both learning and community connection across the Otago region.Â
