Health & Safety

Stewart Construction views Health and Safety as a huge priority, from including it in the tendering process to pre start meetings, to on the job day to day hazard management.  We accept that everyone has responsibilities when it comes to Health and Safety.  We set a high standard of expectations and monitor, review and hold accountable all employees and contractors that carry out work for us.

Each employee has a minimum of the Site Safe Building Passport and all Forman have completed the Supervisor Gold Card course.  All staff have current First Aid training and these are renewed every two years.

We are also registered with Impac Prequalification New Zealand and hold a current 5 star rating in category 4, and strive to maintain an ongoing improvement process throughout the year.

Site Management

Stewart Construction follows the SiteSafe Site Specific Safety Management Plan (SSSP) for each job which sets out the standard H&S management processes that are necessary to manage a healthy and safe work environment. This plan is specifically tailored to suit the variables of each construction site as below:

  • The parties and their H&S responsibilities
  • Workplace control and management responsibilities
  • Hazard management
  • Emergency planning and evacuation processes
  • Accident and investigation reporting processes
  • H&S inspection and safety review processes
  • Site induction, training, competency and supervision expectations
  • Subcontractor management and responsibility expectations
